KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A shooting call led to a short standoff Friday morning when police in Kansas City determined there was nobody inside the residence.

According to police, shots were fired inside a duplex at 75th and Cherry around 2:50 a.m.

Two people were taken into custody when officers arrived. Police spokesman Darrin Snapp said the suspects had “very different” stories about what happened inside, leading them to believe there may have been a third person inside the house.

Authorities blocked off 75th Street between Cherry and McGee while they investigated.

Officers later realized nobody else was inside.

Witnesses reported hearing several shots fired, but Snapp said nobody was injured.
