INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - Police are looking for a man who they say shot a homeowner in the face Friday night while invading the victim’s home.
Around 11:30 p.m. Friday, authorities were called out to the 9800 block of E. Winner Road on reports of a home invasion.
When they arrived, the victim told police that a Black male wearing a face covering came into the residence uninvited and when the victim came out of the bedroom to check on the noise, the suspect shot the victim in the face, leaving him with critical injuries.
A witness told police that they saw two men in a late 1990s Pontiac Grand Prix in the front of the house, with one of the men walking up to the residence. The two then fled the scene.
Anyone with information is asked to call Independence Police or the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-8477.
