Teacher sentenced to probation for having sex with student

LEAVENWORTH COUNTY, Kansas - Former Pleasant Ridge High School teacher Shannon Young has been sentenced to probation for having sex with a teenage boy.
Young, 36, pleaded guilty to three counts of unlawful sexual relations with the 17-year-old student. Young knowingly and willfully have sexual intercourse at least three times with a minor child.
The relationship started in August of 2009 and lasted through June.
Investigators found that the relationship started with Young consulting with the minor about his pending child with his girlfriend at the time. Investigators say they found several letters believed to have been written to them minor detailing intimate thoughts.
A Leavenworth county judge sentenced Young to one year of probation.
