KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Police said a 14-year-old boy has died from injuries sustained during a shooting Saturday afternoon.
Authorities said the victim, identified by police as Miguel Garcia, and another teen were walking near 14th Street and Armstrong Avenue around 2:30 p.m. when they were approached by a Ford Explorer.
Police said there was some sort of altercation between the people in the SUV and the two teens on foot. The SUV then circled the block and opened fire on them, hitting Garcia, according to Sgt. Emmett Lockridge. Neighbors said they heard at least a half-dozen gunshots.
Another young boy who lives on the block told 41 Action News Garcia came to his home after having been shot. Garcia asked the residents of the home to call his mother and told them "he couldn't feel his hands."
Garcia was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he died Saturday night.
It was not clear if the shooter or shooters and the victim knew each other. The only description of the two men in the SUV is that they were Hispanic males.
