KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Two people were taken into custody Sunday night after a police chase that started when officers tried to stop a vehicle wanted in connection with a series of business robberies in the Waldo neighborhood earlier in the day.

The two were arrested about 9:30 p.m. Sunday near 83rd Street and Tracy Avenue.

About an hour before that, Kansas City, Mo., Police put out a news release with photos taken from surveillance video, saying they were looking for a gunman captured on video who robbed the Jimmy John’s restaurant at 8427 Wornall Road at about 2:15 p.m. Sunday.

Police said they believed the suspect in the Jimmy John’s robbery was the same man who earlier Sunday robbed the Planet Sub restaurant at 115 W. 75th St. and the Walgreen’s drug store at 1100 E. 63rd St.

Police said the 18- to 24-year-old male suspect entered a back room at Jimmy John's, held the workers there at gunpoint and demanded money from the register. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot. He was described as a black male, just over 6 feet tall with a slim build and a tattoo on his neck, wearing a hooded sweatshirt or jacket.
