KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A 32-year-old woman is accused of assaulting another woman with an ax and a hammer.
Prosecutors charged Roxanne Delong of Kansas City, Mo., with first-degree assault and armed criminal action on Thursday.
According to detectives, Delong became involved in a verbal altercation with a female victim in the 2300 block of Poplar on Tuesday afternoon. The fight escalated when Delong grabbed a hammer and attempted to strike the victim.
A witness told police he was able to grab the hammer out of Delong’s grasp, but that didn’t prevent Delong from grabbing a nearby pick ax and striking the victim several times, causing bruising and swelling to the victim’s face and a substantial laceration to her left ear.
In an interview with detectives, Delong said she had consumed “mass quantities” of alcohol and had no recollection of any of the events.
Delong was booked into Jackson County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
