NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A North Kansas City school got a big surprise Friday. Staley High School has been awarded $100,000 through the "Celebrate My Drive" safe-driving program from State Farm Insurance.
Staley principal Clark Mershon said that while the money is nice, the award is about more than dollars and cents.
"The money is great and we're excited about the check for $100,000,” said Mershon. “I think what is most important is the fact that our community came together. We joined forces to make this thing happen."
Staley is one of 14 high schools across the country that was given a $100,000 award.
