PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. - A lot of people know there is a season for football and a season for weddings, and apparently there is also a season for preschool enrollment.

Many schools start the registration process in January and continue until March or April.

If your child is between the age of three and five, plays well with other children, and is OK being without Mom and Dad, then he or she is likely ready for preschool.

Before choosing a school, parents should visit prospective schools, take a tour, and be sure to get all their questions answered. Also, consider bringing your child along to see if he or she would fit in well with the school.

St. Ann’s Young Child Center director Tati Needleman says parents can also help get their children excited about school. “Talk about how really neat it would be for them to go to school and to make friends…and be like a big boy or big girl,” Needleman suggested.

KC Kids Fun compiled a list of preschools around the Kansas City. It’s available on their website, kckidsfun.com .
