KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The freshman class at Rockhurst University is the largest in the school's history. The 2012 freshman class includes 450 students, compared to just 326 students last year.

Parents started dropping their teens off early Saturday morning to begin their college experience.

University President Father Tom Curran says they don't credit the jump in enrollment to just one thing, rather it's a collection of changes they made to attract more students.

The university offered more scholarships this year than in years past.

"We spent more time on the phones with students and their parents to make sure they were familiar with Rockhurst University and what we have to offer," Curran said.

The 2012 freshman class hails from 17 different states and one foreign country. Fall semester begins on August 22.
