KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Nursing took on a new name Monday.
The school is now called the UMKC School of Nursing and Health Studies.
While that might not seem like a significant change, UMKC says the change is needed because the health care industry is evolving.
"This new name also reflects that we are no longer just educating nurses,” says Gail Hackett, the UMKC Provost. “We offer health science degrees that prepare students for a range of health-related careers."
The UMKC School of Nursing and Health Studies includes degrees in health services, like hospital administration, and trains students to work with electronic health records.
