OLATHE, Kansas - One click. That’s what two schools need from you.

St. Paul Catholic School and Mize Elementary are in the running for $50,000 in grants from Clorox. The company holds and annual Power a Bright Future grant program contest. This year, Clorox is giving away $150,000 in grants.

A parent at St. Paul Catholic School, based in Olathe, told NBC Action News the school needs greater technology. The money would be used to enhance math and reading programs by way of a program called Success Maker and IPad 2’s. The goal? To bring St. Paul classrooms up to the 20th century.

Principal Tonia Helm explained, "A math and reading program that basically allows students to get on a that identifies where they're at, what level, and then gives feedback to the teachers.  And then the teachers incorporate those specific skills into their instruction."

Mize Elementary in Shawnee tells NBC Action News technology is lagging there. The teachers have held fundraisers to raise money; however, with decreasing state funding, the goal seems out of reach.

Music Teacher Linda McPherson said, "Right now, our laptops are 11 years old and most of them don't work anymore."

That’s why they’ve put the school’s name in the hat for the Clorox grant. Mize Elementary is also competing for a $50,000 Pepsi grant.

Both schools need the community’s help to win $50,000 in grant money. Click here to cast your vote. 38 days remain!
