WESTWOOD, Kansas - Beautiful yellow flowers are bringing smiles to the faces of cancer patients.
The American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days is doing just that.
Several weeks ago, the University of Kansas Cancer Center purchased dozens of daffodils from the American Cancer Society.
The flowers have blossomed and on Wednesday NBC Action News anchor/reporter, Cynthia Newsome, helped deliver the daffodils at the Cancer Center.
“It was an inspiring day,” said Newsome.
“I would walk in a room with the daffodils and the patients would immediately smile and be so grateful,” Newsome added.
“It’s nice to be able to take their minds off of their situations for a brief moment to focus on the gift of bright, lovely flowers,” Newsome concluded.

The American Cancer Society’s theme of Daffodil Days is hope.
Patients are encouraged to look at the flowers and remember to embrace hope in as they fight cancer.
