Kansas City, Mo. - In honor of Mother’s Day, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Kansas City is encouraging women to take action by not putting off their annual mammograms any longer.
On Saturday, May 12th from 8AM-Noon, Komen Kansas City is hosting a Mammogram Party at Imaging for Women at 630 NW Englewood Rd. in Kansas City MO., and Johnson County Imaging Center at 12000 W. 110th in Overland Park, KS .
The events will include food, a pair of Royals tickets for all participants, and drawings for prizes, including tickets for the upcoming James Taylor concert.
If breast cancer is caught before it spreads beyond the breast, the five year survival rate is 99%. Sadly, once cancer spreads, the survival rate plummets to just 23%. Despite this proof that early detection saves lives, nearly 50% of women whose insurance plans pay for mammograms do not go in for these annual life-saving screenings.
Women interested in participating should call Johnson County Imaging Center at 913-469-8998 or Imaging for Women at 816-453-2700 to schedule their appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome. Standard rates apply. Most major insurance providers accepted. Visit www.jocoimg.com or www.imaging4women.com for more information.
