KANSAS CITY, Kansas - Cynthia Newsome tackles belly dancing for her latest change of heart workout
Maya Zahira is the instructor of belly dancing at Kansas City Kansas Community College.
“It’s a less stressful workout on your joints,” explained Zahira.
“But it still keeps you sweating and works every muscle in your body,” she added.
There are torso twists, leg twists, figure-8 moves with your hip and your arms are raised and moving during the workout.
Middle eastern music is playing while participants focus on flexing their abs, hamstrings and calf-muscles.
“I thought it was fun and I could feel that my abdominal muscles were getting a great workout,” Newsome said.
Four of Newsome’s Facebook friends joined her in the belly dancing workout.
Newsome says her next workout will be water aerobics.
