KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The deadline to buy health insurance under the Affordable Care Act is fast approaching.
A group called "Organizing for Action" held a training day Saturday at the downtown Kansas City, Mo., library to educate people on signing up for the act.
Open enrollment begins in October and under the act, everyone must have insurance by January 1, or they face a tax starting next March.
Volunteers want to make one thing clear: not everyone has to sign up for the act.
“If you have group insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, any of the government's plans, there's nothing you have to do. If you don't have insurance then there will be a marketplace for you to sign up,” volunteer Barbara Schneider said.

The worst of the online glitches, crashes and delays may be over for the problem-plagued government health care website, the Department of Health and Human Services said Sunday.
