COLUMBUS, Ohio - Everyone knows how dangerous texting and driving can be, but some say texting and walking can be just as hazardous.
A new study out of Ohio estimates more than 1,500 pedestrians were treated in emergency rooms across the country for injuries related to using a cell phone while walking.
Injuries include everything from bumps and bruises to dislocated shoulders and concussions.
"In the last year, it actually exceeded the injury rate for people who are driving and texting or talking on cell phones," Jack Nasar with City and Regional Planning at Ohio State University said.
What’s the best way to avoid injury? Put down the phone and look up.
