KANSAS CITY, Mo. - More young people are carrying the sexually transmitted disease syphilis in Kansas City, Mo., this year.
According to the health department, from May to June the amount of cases jumped 150 percent.
The majority of cases were found amongst men under the age of 35. About half of those infected with syphilis are also co-infected with HIV.
A health department spokesperson recommends getting tested. The bacteria can be treated.
