OVERLAND PARK, Kansas - Hundreds of children and teenagers from various backgrounds participated in the 6th annual JCC Youth Triathlon on Sunday.
Seven year old Ty Farrington said he had a fun time at the event.
“I came in 3rd place and I did not even know it!” said Farrington.
14 year old Anna Meyer said she spent a lot of time preparing for the competition.
“It was hard. I went on a run every day just around my little block at home” said Meyer.
She said the competition was difficult, but discipline and perseverance pulled her through.
"When I get toward the end and I can ‘t see the finish line, I just keep going” she said.
Five time triathlon competitor Mia Schloegel developed quite a reputation with her friends.
“They always tell me you are going to win. I am like, no I might not win, you might win” said Schloegel.
Jake Gartenberg refined his competitive edge to get ready for the event.
“I just started getting into real training. I have done the Iron Kids before and a couple before this one” he said.
The JCC Kids Triathlon provides a fun and healthy opportunity to help children stay active this summer.
By combining swimming, biking and running in one sport, participants benefit from well-rounded fitness workouts, enhancing their endurance and strength.
