KANSAS CITY, Mo. - If a tragedy happens in Kansas City, doctors and nurses at the University of Kansas Hospital are ready to deal with it.
The hospital is the only nationally accredited Level 1 Trauma Center in the metro, meaning dozens more patients can be seen at one time.
The hospital recently built two new helipads that make it easier to get patients into the emergency room.
A third helipad under construction could also hold a military helicopter, if needed.
Before, patients being flown in by military helicopter would have to land at the downtown airport, and then be taken to the hospital by ambulance.

My latest workout took me to a place in Shawnee, Kan., where kids can jump to their hearts content and adults can join in the fun. That place is Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park. I tried their SkyRobics Fitness class.
