KANSAS CITY, Missouri - It's a sign that can save a newborn baby's life.
On Thursday, advocates launched an awareness campaign in Kansas City that they hope will spread the word through Missouri and Kansas.
Kansas City police and fire departments on both sides of the state line have launched the "Safe Haven for Newborns" campaign.
The safe haven signs are posted in area fire stations, hospitals, clinics and other locations where parents can hand over newborn children without the fear of being prosecuted.
In Missouri- a parent can give up a newborn 5 days old or younger.
In Kansas - infants 45 days old or younger can be handed over to an employee at a designated safe haven.
