KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A two-alarm apartment fire early Wednesday morning has 11 people looking for a new place to stay.
The fire started a little before 1 a.m. in the 11400 block of Holmes Road.
“When fire crews arrived on the scene, they had extensive fire in the second floor,” Kansas City Fire Department spokesman Lew Hendricks said.
The second alarm was called not only because of the size of the fire, which spread to the third floor, but also because of the extreme cold, Hendricks said.
Nobody was injured, Hendricks said, but the fire caused at least $750,000 worth of damage.
The American Red Cross was called in to assist the nine adults and two children living in the damaged apartments.
