KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A 4-year-old girl shot by another child has been taken off life support, according to police. A newly released report shows details of how the tragedy happened.
The report states on Jan. 10, a woman who was watching three children went outside to grab something from her car when she heard a single gunshot. She ran back inside to find Trinity Ross, 4, laying on the living room floor with a gunshot wound to her head.

That woman told police one of the other two children had found a handgun. The gun had been under a jacket on a chair in the living room. The gun, she said, belong to the father of those other two children. Police say one of them picked up their father's gun and accidentally fired one shot that hit Trinity.
The woman ran to a neighbor's and banged on the front door, screaming for them to call 911 before running back home. That's where police found her, holding a cloth over Trinity's head and applying pressure to the wound.
She had placed the five-shot revolver on top of the television. Police found the gun with four live rounds left and one spent cartridge under the firing pin.
Trinity Ross was shot three days after her 4th birthday.
So far, no charges have been filed.
