KANSAS CITY, Mo. - I arrived at Town Topic, a 24 hour diner in Kansas City, around 4:30 a.m. on Nov. 7. There was a diverse crowd of people gathered to eat.

I spoke with older adults, people stopping for a break after working the overnight shift and younger voters who grabbing a bite to eat after a night out on the town.

While many people voiced their opinions, only a few were interested in speaking on camera about their perspective on the outcome of the races.

There were a couple themes that seemed common among all groups I spoke with.

The first: Most people at Town Topic said they are glad the election is over and felt as though the national and local elections seemed to drag on.

When I asked, “Was there a particular race you followed closely?” the most common answer was: The Senate race between Governor Claire McCaskill and U.S. Representative Todd Akin.
