KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A missing 5-year-old Gladstone girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert was found safe Monday afternoon, according to police.
Bruce High clutched his daughter and cried as he carried her out of the Gladstone Police Department late Monday afternoon.
"Relieved, just relieved," he said as he put Lili High in the back seat. "Thank you, thanks to all of you for your help. Thank God for you."
Authorities issued the alert for Lili early Monday morning. According to police, she was taken by 38-year-old Tami J. Kelley, described as a homeless family friend.
Kelley was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant mid-Monday morning near Russell and Wheeling in Kansas City, Mo., a little more than four miles southeast of Lili’s home in Gladstone. At the time, police still did not know where Lili was.
According to police, Kelley came to Lili’s home around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night and visited with Lili’s father. He left the room for a moment, and when he came back, Kelley and Lili were gone.
Lili’s father told police he hadn’t heard from Kelley, who was friend of his and Lili’s mother, in several months.
It was not immediately clear where authorities found Lili. Stay with KSHB.com for updates.
