KANSAS CITY, Missouri - Authorities isolated a small portion of the IRS building in downtown Kansas City Monday morning while they investigated a suspicious package.
IRS spokesman Michael Devine says a wet package was found in an area of the building, located at the corner of Pershing Road and Main Street, where they hold mail before it is sorted. He said they isolated the area, but ordered no evacuation.
Skytracker was over the scene around 8:40 a.m. to see police, fire and HazMat crews outside the building.
Kansas City Fire Department spokesman Joe Vitale says the police and fie departments have left the scene and the HazMat crew has been called to the building to see what the package is.
Vitale said the HazMat crew was working to determine what the liquid was on the package.
