KANSAS CITY, Missouri - Federal agents raided a Kansas City nightclub Sunday night and issued citations to dozens of people.
An NBC Action News crew was at Club Oasis, 2805 Southwest Blvd., around 12:30 a.m. Monday as dozens of people exited the club with citations.
Cell phone video from a patron inside the club shows the raid in progress. Click the attached media player to see the video.
People inside the club say they thought authorities were issuing tickets for underage drinkers until they saw immigration and customs enforcement agents.
Police found three people under the age of 21. The club owner and the underage drinkers were issued tickets.
Officers also issued tickets to an armed security guard. Police say he was not properly licensed and also had crack cocaine in his pockets.
Police say they found powder cocaine and methamphetamine on the floor. Fake licenses were also dumped throughout the club.
Fifteen people were illegally in the country; several were involved in violent felonies and listed as people who need to leave immediately. Others were re-entries who have already been deported once.
Some neighbors aren't surprised by the bust.
"One day he [Oasis club owner] was washing blood off sidewalk after a stabbing," said neighbor Tom McDonnell.
Authorities say about 100 people were inside the club. There was police presence at the club from midnight until 5 a.m. The club's attorney says the business will stay open while the city investigates.
