LIBERTY, Mo. - Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon was in Liberty Monday to help break ground on a new automotive parts facility with 156 new jobs.
The new plant will provide components for the new Ford Transit Connect van, which is built at Ford’s Claycomo plant in Kansas City.
Nixon says Missouri’s gains in manufacturing are getting national attention.
“It’s a commitment for long term that will allow us, even if new product lines come out in the future, to have the kind of flexible manufacturing to deliver products for America,” Nixon said.
The new parts plant was made possible by $3.6 million in state economic incentives. The state is awarding Liberty $2 million for infrastructure improvements and training.
