KANSAS CITY, Missouri - A baby was found abandoned inside a stroller Friday morning with a note attached.
Kansas City police say the baby was found around 9:20 a.m. near 37th Street and Elmwood.
The 10-month-old baby girl had a note with her in the stroller. The note indicated the baby has no home and the mom is in jail. It was a plea for someone to take care of the baby.
The baby was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital as a precaution. The baby appears to be doing fine.
During investigation, officers contacted a woman who was taking care of the baby, but the woman is not the mother of the baby.
Police say the woman was impaired, possibly under the influence of narcotics. She was arrested not far from the intersection where the baby was found.
The baby is in the custody of the Children’s Division while police investigate the incident.
Charges have not been filed, but are expected, according to police.
