KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City, Mo., fire department was called just before 8 p.m. to a report a blown transformer near 30th and Walnut.
At about 8:20 p.m., KCMO fire fighters were called to the seventh floor of the Truman Medical Center at 2301 Holmes with reports of smoke coming from an electrical box. No evacuations or injuries were reported.
By the time fire crews arrived, all that was left was a slight odor of smoke on the floor, but no smoke was present.
Around 8:35 p.m., a power pole caught fire near Main and Walnut.
Overall, about 380 Kansas City Power and Light customers were without power. As of 9 p.m., only 130 were without power.
Kansas City Power and Light nor the fire department can confirm if the incident at Truman Medical Center was related to the initial report of a blown transformer.
