KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A man accused of posing as a war hero in order to win contracts with the government has admitted he lied about his past.
Warren Parker, 70, pleaded guilty to defrauding a federal program that awarded government contracts to businesses owned by service-disabled veterans on Monday.
The Blue Springs man’s claims that he was an injured Vietnam veteran who had a purple heart helped his company, Silver Star Construction, win more than $7 million in government contracts.
Parker's sentencing is set for June 16.
