KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Northeast High School in Kansas City canceled classes for the day because of a phoned-in bomb threat.
Kansas City Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Stephen Green was at the school Wednesday morning and spoke with 41 Action News about the situation.
Green said somebody called 911 and made a threat saying “something would happen” at the school, 415 Van Brunt, at 10:15 a.m.
School officials initially said they would push back the start of classes from 7:20 a.m. to about 7:40 a.m., but later announced they would not hold any classes on Wednesday.
The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department used a bomb dog to search the building and by 9:30 a.m., had deemed the building all clear.
Students who ride the bus to school were put back on the buses and taken home, Green said. Those who walk were allowed to walk home or waited in a nearby district building.
Authorities say they also investigated a bomb threat Wednesday at DeLasalle Education Center, 3740 Forrest, but nothing was found there either.
