MERRIAM, Kansas - Veterans Day is Thursday, November 11. Between now and then, don't miss a beautiful display of red, white and blue as you travel Interstate 35 near Johnson Drive.
Several dozen Boys Scouts set up 800 American flags on the hillside by Merriam Town Center Tuesday night. Troops 2162 and 162 worked up until sunset part of their annual service project.
It’s an annual project their leader says the boys take a lot of pride in doing.
“This is a way for us to show appreciation for Veterans and to teach the kids to show respect and service for those who served our country,” said Scout Leader Mike Jones.
This is also an annual fundraiser for the scouts. The Merriam Town Center property owners pay them for their work, which funds their camps.
