LONE JACK, Mo. - A 27-year-old Warrensburg man was hospitalized Saturday night after he stopped to drag a deer out of the road and was struck by a passing car.
The Missouri Highway Patrol reported that Nathan Derritt stopped on U.S. Highway 50 just east of Noel Road in Jackson County about 8:45 p.m. Saturday to drag a deer that had been struck by a vehicle out of the road. As he was doing so, a car driven by a 29-year-old woman came along and struck Derritt, seriously injuring him. He was transported to a hospital by ambulance.
