KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City is one step closer to getting a new police station.
Thursday afternoon, the 3rd District City Council approved a $48 million contract with JE Dunn and Alexander McNeal.
This is for the East Patrol Division Station and Crime Lab Campus.
The $57 million project will include a state-of-the-art crime lab and a multi-purpose center.
It promises to bring jobs to the inner city and revitalize 27th and Prospect.
"This will certainly stimulate the entire area there at 27th and Prospect. It will transform the entire community and the landscape," 3rd District councilman Jermaine Reed said.
Earlier this week, more than 60 local contractors, sub-contractors and laborers met to discuss the next steps in the construction process.
