KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The winter storm made a deep cut into the Kansas City Metro’s blood supply.
The Community Blood Center closed all six of its locations Thursday and canceled area blood drives. The loss of donations amounts to the loss of two days worth of blood supply.
Area blood center locations are expected to reopen Friday and will be open for donors throughout the weekend.
There are six Community Blood Center locations:
Overland Park: 10568 Metcalf Avenue
Kansas City: 4040 Main Street
Gladstone: 7265 N. Oak Traffic way
Blue Springs: 1124 West 40 Highway
St. Joseph: 3122 Frederick
Topeka: 800 SW Lane Street
All blood types are needed. For more information on a location near you, including mobile blood drives scheduled in the coming days, call 816-753-4040 or visit savealifenow.org
