KANSAS CITY, Mo. - People are trying to help rebuild the life of a Kansas City woman who suffered a tragic loss.
The Lifequest Church in Belton hosted a "housewarming shower" for Shyla Greve.
Her life changed forever last May when her house burned. Greve lost her husband, Chris, her 7-year-old daughter, Donnica, and her 2-year-old son, Brinton.
"It is my daughter's birthday today. And so I've come to church and celebrate it with my church family,” Greve said. “And I went and donated blood to help somebody."
A Beacon of Hope, "The Shyla Greve Story" Benefit Event will be held at 6:30 p.m., October 20 at Belton High School.
Funds from the event will go toward helping Greve by a house.
Since the tragedy, Greve has worked to help others. She donated some of the money raised for her to the victims of the Colorado wildfires.
