KANSAS CITY, Kan. - People gathered at Kaw Point Riverfront Park on Saturday for a one-day event to learn about the environment and ways to protect it.
Globally renowned water conservationist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and environmental author Bill McKibben joined regional leaders for the Midwest's first solar-powered "Concert for the Climate."
The event included numerous educational activities and workshops for the whole family, including a special area just for kids. Electric and CNG vehicles were also on display.
Topics included energy-related demonstrations of solar and photovoltaic systems, residential and commercial energy economics, as well as habitat, river protection and restoration programs.
The event was sponsored by Heartland Renewable Energy Society.
