KANSAS CITY, Mo. - On Monday, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver was in town to mark another milestone in the Honeywell National Security campus in Kansas City.
The new campus sits about eight miles south of the older plant at the Bannister Federal Complex.
With more than 2,000 manufacturing jobs and more than 1,000 construction jobs, Cleaver says this is the largest plant of its kind in the country.
"The people here ought to be very pleased that two things happened. Number one, we avoided sequestration. I would dare say this plant would not have been here had it been delayed another couple of years. Number two, we've created hundreds of jobs for people in the Kansas City area,” Cleaver said.
Those attending the event also learned Cleaver used to work at the plant when he was younger.
