KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fire crews were going house-to-house Friday checking on gas levels after a construction crew hit a gas line near 39th Street and the Paseo in Kansas City, Mo.
Officials with Missouri Gas Energy are in the area attempting to cap the subsequent leak in the two-inch line.
Authorities initially reported a strong smell of gas in the area, but it has since subsided.
No evacuations have been ordered, but crews did close the intersection while they worked to clear the scene.
An employee with the electrical company who hit the line said they were in the area installing traffic signals.
We have a crew on the scene and will post more information here as it becomes available.
