KANSAS CITY, Mo. - An effort to recall Kansas City Councilman Jermaine Reed has failed.

More than 1,600 signatures were needed for the recall process to begin.

According to the election board, the group behind the effort only turned in 1,400 signatures, falling short of the requirement.

The group argued he wasn't doing enough to represent homeowners being displaced by the planned East Patrol Police Station near 27th and Prospect.
