GARNETT, Kan. - An elderly Kansas couple who had not been seen since Monday when they left for a trip has been found safe in Michigan, police in Garnett, Kan., report.
Vernon and Goldie Hunt stopped somewhere in Mio, Mich., and asked for directions, the Garnett Police Department told 41 Action News.
Law enforcement authorities in three states had been on the lookout for the couple after they left their home Monday morning bound for Illinois, but never showed up as expected.
The city of Garnett announced the news in an excited post on Facebook: "FOUND! Police Chief Kevin PeKarek reports that Goldie and Vernon hunt have been located and they are ok! Yeah!"
Vernon, 92, and Goldie, 81, left Garnett in their car around 6 a.m. Monday and were expected to arrive that evening at the home of friends in Dwight, Ill., more than 400 miles from where they were found in northern Michigan.
A Silver Alert wasn’t issued for the Hunts, but Garnett Police Chief Kevin Pekarek said Tuesday that law enforcement agencies in all three states along their route had been alerted to their situation.
