Excessive heat warning extended through Wednesday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Weather Service has extended an excessive heat warning for the metro until 7 p.m . Wednesday.

The warning was originally set to expire 8 p.m. Saturday.

Afternoon temperatures will rise into the lower 100s through Sunday, with heat index readings from 100 to 105 each day, according to the NWS. Temperatures will rise into the lower 100s, with heat index readings from 102 to 110 Monday through Wednesday.
