OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The Game on Against Hunger spirit rallies were held this weekend to help in the fight against hunger.
Fans of Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri teamed up to help Harvesters Food Bank. Kansas City's hungry will benefit from friendly competition between fans of our region's three biggest universities. The event took place in all 49 Price Chopper stores August 25 and 26th.
Alicia Pernaw with Harvesters says the friendly rivalry always leads to a lot of donations, which helps Harvesters feed people in the Kansas City area year after year.
"This is a successful food drive because really do get involved with the rivalry. Food drives bring in our highest source of nutritious and high quality and our most needed items so everything that people are putting into these barrels are probably what they are eating at home," explained Pernaw.
The Game On Against Hunger excitement culminated on Sunday, August 26 with spirit rallies at three area Price Choppers.
