KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Wednesday, bomb squads took part in a demonstration on public safety at Kemper Arena.

The goal was to inform people about how police identify and react to suspicious packages.

FBI special agent bomb technician Jonathan Tucker talked about how packages are disarmed.

He said the way he works is very different from what you see in the movies.

"If you watch movies a lot, "Hurt Locker," or "Speed" or whatever, they always show the guy down there, cutting the yellow wire or doing something crazy,” said Tucker. “We take calculated risks. There's a plan about what we do, we do it in a planned way in an attempt to keep people safe."

The bomb squad would not give us details on how they dismantle bombs because they don't want to make it easy for people to counter their techniques.
