When officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in Raymore Friday afternoon, they found the home engulfed in flames.
Police were called around 3 p.m. to the 700 block of Heron Street on a reported domestic disturbance.
A neighbor called police after hearing a woman scream for help and for someone to call police.
When officers arrived at the home, the house was engulfed in flames. The South Metro Fire District responded to the scene.
A woman who lives at the home ran to a neighbor's home and reported she had been assaulted by a family member.
One man surrendered to police as he was exiting the burning home. He was taken into custody.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
