COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. - A former Kansas City, Mo., police officer was killed in a crash in Colorado on Tuesday afternoon.
Officer Matt Tyner was conducting traffic enforcement near Austin Bluffs Parkway and Silver Drive in Colorado Springs just after 2:30 p.m. when he was involved in a crash. He later died from his injuries.
Prior to joining the Colorado Springs Police Department, Tyner was an officer with the Kansas City Police Department for three years.
He became a member of the Colorado Springs Police Department on January 21, 1999, where he served as a Patrol Officer, a Neighborhood Resource Officer and Training Academy Instructor before becoming part of the Specialized Enforcement Division/Motorcycle Unit.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
