KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Google began laying fiber this week for its the long-awaited high speed Internet project in Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri.

The news has local neighborhoods and organizations lining up in the hopes of getting on board.  Tuesday night, the Ward Parkway Homes Association met to discuss ways of attracting Google to their neighborhood.

Social media representatives from the "Give us a Gig" campaign answered questions and helped the group come up with a plan.  Neighbors like Jenell Loschke hope the Ward Parkway neighborhood will be in the forefront.

“I found out how important it is for all of us to be involved,” she said after Tuesday night’s meeting.  “And how we need to help make a case to have our neighborhood included as soon as possible.”

Google says its high speed Internet project will run 100 times faster than current internet speeds.
