MERRIAM, Kan. - An animal rescue group is without a name after losing a trademark infringement lawsuit.
The former Heartland SPCA has to come up with a new name after they were sued by the Heartland Animal Clinic in Overland Park.
They spent Monday morning covering up the sign on the building while they think of a new name.
“Today, we’re really looking at this as an opportunity to get our community behind us and to support us as we come up with a new name, a new brand that will hopefully position us in an even stronger place tomorrow,” Executive Director Courtney Thomas said.
Heartland SPCA formed last year after Animal Haven and No More Homeless Pets Kansas City merged forces.
