KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Two explosive devices were found in a vehicle during a traffic stop in the Northland on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Kansas City Police Department, an officer spotted what he believed to be a pipe bomb in a vehicle he pulled over on Roanridge Road near Interstate 29 for a traffic violation.

The department's bomb and arson squad responded to the scene. One explosive device in the vehicle was detonated, a second one was found to be inoperable.

Northbound I-29 at 56th Street was briefly closed, but reopened just before 4:30 p.m. The 56th Street exit opened around an hour later.
