TOPEKA, Kan. - A Kansas resident walked into state lottery headquarters with two financial advisors and a lawyer on Friday to present the winning Mega Millions ticket.

After taxes, the winner will take home a lump sum of $110.5 million.

The Kansas winner is choosing to remain anonymous, but did tell lottery officials they’d be retiring.

According to Dennis Wilson, executive director of the Kansas Lottery, the winning ticket was a Quick Pick. And how’s this for odds: The winner only purchased one ticket.

Wilson said the winner told him they had to check the numbers online 10 times to make sure they were reading them correctly.

The winning ticket was bought at a Casey’s store in Ottawa, Kan.

The lottery director would not reveal any personal details about the winner – not even the person’s gender.

At a press conference Friday, lottery officials presented a giant check to a cardboard cutout in the shape of a person.

While Wilson said that they like to encourage winners to come out publicly, there are no rules that say they have to.
